View Full Version : skateboarding
i have been skateboarding for almost 2 years now and am wondering..do people consider that a sport?
i mean i tell people that and they reply "well do you play any sports like football or basketball?"
ill just reply, "i dont like to play with balls."

I consider skateboarding a sport because there is competition. Balance, skills, and other important stuff in skate bording. I don't like skateboarding though.

Any activity in which you are competing with others and that requires physical strain, coordination, and muscle memory is a sport. So yes, skateboarding is a sport. However, if you do not take your skateboarding to a competitive level then you cannot say that you skateboard as a sport, only as a hobby.

so is drinking beer a sport if you challenge some one to a drinking game it requires physical strain coordination and memory

But after your 15th its more like attempted memory.

I my knee is fucked too.
It dislocates occasionally.
over time i have became irritated with the hospital visits and i now put it back into place myself.
It has benefited me though, i now have a extraordinary tolerance to pain.

I think all the X-games are the hardest. Not only do they require strength like all other sports but a LOT of skill. LIke take basketball (which I can't stand), you throw a big ball though a hoop that easily swallows it. Woooo...
Now, take BMX, moto-X, snowboarding, skiing, skatebaording... these all take WAY more concentration to accomplish than running 20 feet bouncing a ball and throwing it through a hoop a mere 10 feet in the air. But thats just me.
So, I think that skateboarding is more of sport than the "ball sports".
